FOUNDATION DATA REVIEW

Foundation Data Review is a series of data research products based on the most complete foundation database independently developed in China by China Foundation Center, which annually produces a number of research reports targeted at various types of foundations, industrial fields and hotspot topics. The series of reports conducts research and development of information of public benefit organizations with its information platform, targeting at the issue of transparency currently prevailing in public benefit and charity fields while extensively disseminating the research findings. Covering all foundations, the series of reports promotes the transparency and public confidence of foundations in that it contributes to the trust and confidence in public benefit organizations by releasing the research findings.

By June 20, 2012, there are 1259 public foundations in China, about 46% of the total.

Most public foundations are distributed in the following areas: Jiangsu, Zhejiang, Beijing,Guangdong, and Hu'nan. There are 50% of Chinese public foundations locating in these 5 areas.Jiangsu has the largest number, with 179 public foundations.

Up to June 20, 2012, 1065 of 1269 public foundations have disclosed their initial fund information. The total amount of those fund is estimated 9.6 billion RMB.

The total income of public foundations was approximately 17.9 billion RMB by the end of 2010.The average income of public foundations was 20.6 million RMB, 32% increase comparing with 2008.

The total project expense of public foundations was estimated 12.7 billion RMB by the end of 2010, about 95% of total expenditure. Average project expense amount of public foundations was 14.7 million RMB, a 23% increase comparing with 2009.
