FOUNDATION DATA REVIEW

Foundation Data Review is a series of data research products based on the most complete foundation database independently developed in China by China Foundation Center, which annually produces a number of research reports targeted at various types of foundations, industrial fields and hotspot topics. The series of reports conducts research and development of information of public benefit organizations with its information platform, targeting at the issue of transparency currently prevailing in public benefit and charity fields while extensively disseminating the research findings. Covering all foundations, the series of reports promotes the transparency and public confidence of foundations in that it contributes to the trust and confidence in public benefit organizations by releasing the research findings.

By November 24, 2011, there are 873 civil foundations in China, among which 803 are private ones, accounting for 92% of the total number; while there are only 70 public foundations in the same period.

297 out of the 873 civil foundations have their own internet platform for information release,accounting for 34% of the total number.

 

49%
According to the statistics based on observations of China Foundation Center , a total of 1,867 persons are employed full time in 580 civil foundations. 283 foundations, or 49% of the total,have 1 to 3 staffs.

The 873 civil foundations are distributed in 31 provinces, autonomous regions and municipalities in China, among which Beijing, Guangdong and Jiangsu have the largest number, each accounting for over 10% of all civil foundations in China.

The net aggregate assets of the 609 civil foundations in 2010 amounted to 8,680,709,869.97 RMB (nearly 8.7 billion RMB), an average of 14,254,039.20 RMB for each foundation.
